The purpose of the workshops, that took place every month with a different theme, were to provide refugees and asylum seekers a constructive and fun place to relax away from their own homes.
The workshop was not very well attended and I think this may have been because of advertising issues at the time, but none-the-less it was a much more successful workshop than my last one.
I had a clear plan and focus, teaching one specific technique which was couching. Once I had explained what could be achieved and how it was done everyone was eager to get going, the mistake I made was having a lack of imagery. It should have been my job to draw some basic shapes onto the calico for people to work from, because it took a long time for people to decide what they wanted to stitch!
