Lymm Festival

I helped curate a small exhibition called 'Art in the Garden' which is part of the Lymm Festival that was on in June. Held and run by Su Williams.

This particular image shows products from a company called ClearVision who are based in London and have a library of tactile books for blind or partially sighted children. I was keen on getting these in the festival to raise awareness and also because it is something I am extremely interested in - how one sense can be translated into another.

This images is of the work from Venture Arts
(http://www.venturearts.org/) who are based in Hulme, Manchester. It was made by a collection of people and was a great addition to the garden!
This was more about creating art that works in a certain environment, in this case outside, rather than positioning previously made pieces to fit around the environment.

This was a fun idea that Su had as an interactive piece, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy sculptures. We had a huge amount of logs and sticks donated to us and they were set aside for people to have a go at creating their own art work. Unfortunately no one tried it out, so it ended up with me and a few small children building this over-sized nest. I really liked it in the end and I'm glad I gave the kids visiting something fun to do.

I was given the opportunity to run a workshop before the festival started so there would be work made within the community to hang. Rachel Britch, a friend from my course, ran this with me and the theme was leaves. We taught a range of embroidery stitches and brought in loads of materials for people to play around with. It was the first workshop I'd ever done so the preparation was a bit over-board and nerves definitely kicked in!
